Formulation Scientist

Job Overview
">This position will provide chemistry support in the development of Schaeffer heavy duty commercial and industrial lubricant products, including engine oils, gear oils, hydraulic fluids, grease, and other related products. As a Formulation Scientist, you will be part of a team that supports formulators in product development by conducting formulation blending and testing.
">Responsibilities

- Meet with business development, management, marketing, and research and development teams to discuss and collaborate on product/project ideas;">
- Identify or relay new market opportunities to stakeholders;">
- Modify and revise existing products to meet customer expectations and satisfaction;">
- Redesign existing products to enhance functionality or reduce costs;">
- Project manage championed projects;">
- Research product marketplace for current and future technological product/raw material advancements;">
- Champion product development and continued improvement;">
- Act as resource for any product-related inquiries;">
- Identify product solutions;">
- Meet with suppliers and stay current on new technology, OEM, API updates;">
- Handle customer incidents to assure customer satisfaction;">
- Research competitive products and cross-reference existing products suitable for replacement;">
- Evaluate market conditions and maintain awareness of the industry;">
- Act as resource for customers and sales reps;">
- Provide product-related technical information and consultation to customers;">
- Provide feedback to sales on product development opportunities;">
- Update product information regarding testing or updated specifications;">
- Answer phone calls to answer customer/sales rep product questions;">
- Research and keep up-to-date on global trends in the lubricant industry and industry/OEM specifications;">
- Liaison between SMC and original equipment manufacturers;">
- Manage test data;">
- Run laboratory equipment as trained; prepare blends document formulations and results, perform calculations as required;">
- Write or contribute to test reports and summaries using MS Office;">
- Follow lab safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe and healthy work environment;">
- Clean lab equipment and glassware as needed to support a clean and safe lab environment;">
- Participate in project teams and project meetings/discussions;">
- Perform other duties and responsibilities from time to time.">

Requirements
">- ">
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry;">
- Minimum one year of relevant work experience;">
- Working knowledge in benchtop testing including material properties and industry standards (ASTM);">
- Strong chemical lab work aptitude, analytical skills, and the ability to work with minimal supervision;">
- Excellent written and oral communication skills and good team-working skills;">
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint;">
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S.">
