Job Summary

This is a critical role that requires the performance of varied work assignments relative to the complex and critical operations involved in the receipt, handling, movement, shipment, storage, loading and unloading of inert and explosive missile components.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work with technical assistance and guidance to perform tasks related to the receipt, unpackaging, movement, and shipment of missile rocket motors.
  • Assist in and/or perform the transportation of inert and explosive major missile components to and from magazines and processing buildings using gas, electric, and diesel powered trucks and trailers and other facility specific handling support equipment.
  • Record data, maintain records, and process documents pertaining to the movement and handling of missile components.
  • Assist in and/or perform dispatcher functions.
  • Perform grounding tests in Limited Area (LA) using appropriate meter and test equipment.
  • Maintain and repair support equipment and material handling equipment, and perform preventative maintenance.
  • Move general freight items within the facility.
  • Work at heights of 20 feet and greater with applicable fall protection equipment.
Requirements
  • Typically requires a minimum of 12 months of experience in directly related work.
  • Possess elementary knowledge of rigging for the purpose of lifting and moving large multi-ton objects.
  • Possess mechanical aptitude and ability to use general purpose hand tools.
  • Ability to read and follow checklists in proper sequence.
  • Ability to work from applicable U.S. Navy publications, missile processing documents, and vendor manuals.
  • Ability to read various gauges and instruments and record test data.
  • Ability to perform work in confined spaces as required to perform job tasks.
  • Skilled in the use of computers and ability to learn new computer applications.
  • Ability to qualify for and maintain required operating certifications/qualifications and/or licenses to operate overhead bridge and jib cranes, forklifts, tow tractors, trucks, semi-trailers and other equipment as required.
  • Must possess a valid state driver's license and will be required to qualify for or possess a CDL (Commercial Driver License) with class 'H' endorsement, material and handling equipment license, and explosive driver's license.
  • Ability to meet and maintain the requirements of the Personnel Reliability Program (PRP).
  • General computer knowledge.
  • Ability to interpret and follow procedures.
  • Ability to perform individually and in a team environment.
  • Strong work ethic.
  • U.S. Citizenship required. Must not be dual citizen.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance.

  • Current CDL (Commercial Driver License)
  • Equipment operator experience
