RN Supervisor

1. Supervises and mentors nursing and support staff during assigned shift.
2. Determines staffing level and assignments based on staff availability, staff abilities, census, patient acuity, and work/patient flow.
3. Provides direct patient care as needed.
4. Floats between staff to assist with problem-solving.
5. May take patient assignments to meet staffing needs.
6. Evaluates the effectiveness of patient care and identifies any issues that affect desired patient outcomes.
7. Responds to complaints about patient care and related services, and manages through established channels.
8. Performs role-specific duties as assigned, including entering orders, performing admissions or discharges, and coordinating transfers.
9. Ensures staff has necessary equipment and supplies to provide safe, quality patient care.
10. Integrates evidence-based practices into operations and clinical protocols.
11. Creates and fosters an environment that encourages professional growth.
12. Initiates weekend case management, utilization review screening, assists with D/C planning, and swing intake.

1. Minimum Education: Associate's degree - Required
2. An Active RN License with KBN or a Compact RN License will confirm the presence of degree.
3. Required Skills: Critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
4. Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) - within 90 days of hire, Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) - within 90 days of hire, Handle with Care (Physical Training) - within 60 days of hire and renewed annually, Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC) - Preferred, ENPC - preferred, NRP - preferred, NIHSS - required within 60 days of hire and renewed annually.
5. Licenses: State of KY current unrestricted RN license.
6. Minimum Work Experience: Five years previous acute care experience.
7. Previous experience as a nursing supervisor or able to meet competency requirements.
