Job Summary

The Diagnostic Medical Sonographer at Northwestern Memorial Healthcare reflects the organization's mission, vision, and values, adhering to the Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program. This role is responsible for performing vascular sonography in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice, as well as organizational policies and guidelines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Reviews patient history and physician's orders to ensure accurate and effective care.
  • Educates patients regarding procedures, equipment, and exams to ensure understanding and cooperation.
  • Prepares and administers contrast media and/or medications within scope of practice.
  • Monitors patient condition continually and reports/responds to changes in status as appropriate.
  • Prepares equipment and supplies, selects appropriate exposure factors, and implements safety standards.
  • Troubleshoots, resolves, and/or reports equipment malfunctions as necessary.
  • Positions patients and performs imaging procedures, analyzes results, and identifies issues with image quality.
  • Takes appropriate action to resolve image quality issues, including repositioning patients and repeating procedures.
  • Enters, transmits, and reports scan results.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by management.

Requirements

This role requires a strong understanding of vascular sonography principles, as well as excellent communication and patient care skills. The ideal candidate will be able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.
