Job Summary

The Office of Inspector General (OIG) is seeking a highly skilled Senior Auditor (Performance) to join our team. As a Senior Auditor, you will be responsible for conducting and supervising audits relating to the Department of Labor's programs and operations. You will also recommend policies for activities designed to promote economy, efficiency, and effectiveness in the administration of the Department's programs and operations. Additionally, you will prevent and detect fraud, waste, abuse, and mismanagement in these programs and operations.

This is a senior auditor position that includes Auditor-In-Charge (AIC), lead auditor, and project team member responsibilities. Under the direction of the audit manager, the auditor provides leadership, coaching, direction, or assists in conducting performance audits or evaluations of governmental organizations, programs, activities, and functions of various complexity.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in government auditing standards (GAS) and generally accepted auditing standards (GAAS). You will also have experience in conducting financial and performance audits, and attestations specified in GAS. Additionally, you will have knowledge of laws, government regulations, OMB circulars, executive orders, agency rules, and government organization and functions.

The selected candidate will be responsible for performing projects (e.g. audits, reviews, evaluations etc.) in accordance with applicable public laws, regulations, Government Auditing Standards (GAO Yellow Book) or DOL OIG OA Handbook and standard operating procedures, or accounting principles. You will also conduct site visits to auditee locations (e.g., headquarters, regions, districts, field offices, etc.) to perform the necessary procedure steps in the audit plan such as performing interviews, obtaining data and/or information, and/or performing analyses.

The successful candidate will have excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with various stakeholders, including auditees, audit team members, and senior management. You will also have strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to express ideas and facts to individuals or groups effectively. Additionally, you will have problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify problems, determine accuracy and relevance of information, and use sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.

The selected candidate will be required to undergo a background investigation for access to DOL facilities, systems, information and/or classified materials before they can enter on duty. The position is subject to the confidential financial disclosure requirements of the Ethics in Government Act of 1978 (P.L. 95-521). Therefore, if selected, you will be required to complete a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report (OGE Form 450) to determine if a conflict or an appearance of a conflict exists between your financial interest(s) and your prospective position with DOL. This information will be required annually.

The position is physically located in San Francisco, CA/Denver, CO. Incumbents are eligible to telework, subject to supervisor approval, but must also report to the physical office a prescribed number of days each pay period. Click here for Telework Position Information
