UNC Health is seeking a highly skilled Security Officer to join our dynamic team at UNC Medical Center. As a Security Officer, you will play a critical role in protecting persons and property, enforcing security and safety regulations, and providing exceptional customer service to patients, visitors, and staff.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Communications: Effectively communicate via two-way radio, computer, email, telephone, and verbal communications with Hospital Police Department, law enforcement agencies, Hospital staff, visitors, and patients.
  • Emergency Response: Assist with mental health patient custody issues, escort patients to units, respond to emergency situations, and provide backup for Hospital police officers.
  • Fixed Post Functions: Control patient and visitor entry, operate metal screening systems, maintain parking lot surveillance, and staff night entrance posts.
  • Investigations and Incident Report Writing: Complete trespass, patient intervention, and use of force reports, take custody of found items, and initiate risk assessments.
  • Patrol: Submit daily activity logs, patrol assigned areas, document security or safety hazards, and interact with personnel.
  • Traffic Control: Conduct parking surveys, enforce parking regulations, and initiate towing of vehicles.
Requirements:
  • Education: High School diploma or GED
  • Licensure/Certification: Valid North Carolina Driver's license, CPR Certification
  • Professional Experience: One year of previous work experience
  • Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Proficient in oral and written communication, basic computer skills
