Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner

We are seeking a highly skilled Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner to join our team at Wexford Health Sources, Inc. This is a unique opportunity to make a difference in the lives of our patients and contribute to the delivery of high-quality healthcare in a correctional setting.
Responsibilities- Provide basic medical and mental health services under the supervision of a licensed physician
- Utilize professional medical skills to meet a variety of physical and mental health care needs, with primary care as primary focus
- Interact with a variety of health care professionals and security staff in a correctional environment
- Support and provide direction for the psychiatric and behavioral health care delivery system and coordinate with other functions within the institution
- Perform physical examinations as required, and provide documentation in accordance with unit policies and procedures utilizing the SOAPE charting format
- Monitor and ensure the appropriate utilization of psychotropic medications, and initiate requests for commonly performed initial laboratory studies
- Identify normal and abnormal findings on history, physical examination, and commonly performed laboratory studies, and dispense, prescribe, and administer medications as specified in the drug formulary protocol for PA/NPs and as approved by the appropriate regulatory boards
- Provide counseling and instruction regarding common patient problems, and perform other related duties as required or assigned
- Current New Mexico Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant license required
- Current New Mexico Controlled Substance license preferred
- Current DEA preferred
- Advanced Practical Nurse or Physician Assistant's Certification required
- Current CPR certification required
- Graduate of college/university Advanced Practical Nurse or Physician Assistant program
- 2 years clinical experience preferred, with correctional healthcare experience a plus
