About Your Role:

As a pivotal member of the Core Information Software team, you will engage in the design and development of cutting-edge on-board information system software for Caterpillar machinery and engines. This role involves creating operating systems, core software, applications, and data transfer frameworks that will support our product lines for years to come.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design and development of new software components for connectivity control modules and displays.
  • Analyze feature requests and assess their implications on system design to implement new functionalities.
  • Collaborate with various teams to define customer use cases and establish acceptance criteria.
  • Conduct root-cause analysis and failure mode effects analysis (FMEA).
  • Debug and analyze source code in languages such as C, C++, Rust, and Python to identify issues.

Essential Qualifications:

To excel in this role, you should possess a degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science. You will also need strong analytical skills, effective communication abilities, and a commitment to teamwork.

Technical Expertise:

Demonstrated experience in the architecture and design of software solutions using C, C++, and Rust, along with a solid understanding of Linux operating systems and drivers is essential. You should also be familiar with short-range wireless technologies and their applications in ruggedized environments.
