Position Overview

The City of McMinnville Police Department is seeking motivated individuals who are dedicated to serving the community. The role of a Certified Police Officer is crucial in safeguarding the lives and properties of McMinnville's residents by upholding all municipal regulations and state laws that govern the Police Department's responsibilities.

This position offers a competitive salary structure based on experience, starting at a minimum of $45,000, along with holiday compensation (14 days) and additional pay for night shifts. Officers work on a 12-hour shift schedule with alternating weekends off. The department provides numerous opportunities for advancement, specialized training, and educational reimbursement.

The City of McMinnville is committed to providing excellent benefits and ample time off. The City covers over 75% of employees' medical insurance premiums and offers discounts for wellness and tobacco-free lifestyles, potentially saving up to $150 monthly. Life insurance for employees and their families, as well as long-term disability coverage, is provided at no cost. Vision, dental, and short-term disability options are also available.

Additionally, the City offers generous paid time off. Employees accrue 48 hours of annual leave in the first year, increasing to 102 hours in the second year, plus 52 hours of personal time. Sick leave is accrued monthly from the first day of employment.

The City also provides a retirement plan through TCRS at no expense to the employee, along with a 457b plan for personal investment.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 years of age and a U.S. citizen

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and maintain necessary reports, logs, citations, and documentation
  • Communicate effectively and respond to high-pressure situations
  • Engage with the community as a liaison between citizens and law enforcement, promoting community policing
