Responsibilities- Participate in admissions, discharges, and evaluation materials/processes for all residents to ensure appropriate assessment and documentation are complete, timely and meets state and federal requirements.
- Conduct nursing assessments, administer professional nursing services, and monitor nursing care and treatment administered to all residents.
- Oversee medication administration, ensuring adequate ordering, receiving, documentation, safe storage and disposal of physician-prescribed medication for residents.
- Work in conjunction with the interdisciplinary team to ensure resident assessments are completed in accordance with Federal and State regulations.
- Respond to Emergency Call alarms from apartments or other areas in facilities, assess residents' physical and mental conditions, perform first aid and take other appropriate action as indicated.
- Communicate effectively with Health Care Management staff, physicians, and other healthcare providers regarding orders, nursing services, and changes in residents' conditions.
- Promptly report residents' or their families' concerns or complaints to Health Care management staff. Communicate effectively and courteously with residents, families, and visitors.
- Monitor the nursing care of Boarder Room residents.
- Participate in orientation and training of new employees and assist in finding replacements for nurses who call in sick.
- Investigate probable causes of incidents, write incident reports, and implement corrective actions as needed.
- Participate and assist during emergency drills and situations such as fire, fire alarms, hurricanes, and other possible emergencies as outlined in the Disaster Response Playbook.
- Participate in Quality Assurance programs.
- Ensure compliance with all of the organization's policies and procedures, as well as state and federal laws and regulations.
- Ensure that all resident rights and responsibilities are protected and enforced; establish and maintain a close liaison with residents and families.
- Perform annual employee health screening, PPD skin testing and administer hepatitis immunization and annual flu injections in accordance with our policies and procedures.
- Assess employee injuries or emergencies, perform first aid and take other appropriate action as indicated.
- Maintain sufficient supplies and monitor proper operation of medical devices and equipment.
- Bachelor's degree (B.S.) from four-year college or university and a minimum of 2-3 years' experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Current State of Hawaii R.N. license and First Aid/CPR certification.
- Proficiency in using a computer including Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word) and other applicable software applications.
