Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Laboratory Technologist to join our team at Jefferson Health. As a Medical Laboratory Technologist, you will be responsible for performing and monitoring various medical laboratory analyses of patient specimens to provide accurate test results for confirming clinical diagnoses and treatment therapies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform and monitor various medical laboratory analyses of patient specimens
  • Provide accurate test results for confirming clinical diagnoses and treatment therapies
  • Comply with regulatory requirements by following established procedures and protocols
  • Work effectively as a team member within the department and with other departments to provide quality service
  • Interact with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with the values of Jefferson
  • Properly process specimens following established protocols for proper patient identification and labeling
  • Determine acceptability of specimens by performing visual inspections
  • Document unacceptable specimens according to appropriate policy
  • Communicate specimen requirements to appropriate personnel
  • Report, document, and communicate critical values per hospital policy
  • Complete reports and maintain records and documentation of test results
  • Operate analytical equipment for medical laboratory tests
  • Monitor, clean, calibrate, and maintain devices and instruments according to manufacturer specifications and relevant standards
  • Troubleshoot malfunctions and initiate corrective action
  • Keep accurate records of all equipment checks and maintenance actions performed
  • Adhere to established quality control policies and procedures to ensure the accuracy and validity of laboratory results
  • Recognize factors that affect measurements and take appropriate action according to protocol
  • Follow QC protocols for all testing before releasing results
  • Document quality control results in compliance with regulatory agencies
  • Participate in Proficiency testing program
  • Maintain clinical competency by annually fulfilling regulatory requirements
  • Participate in hospital/laboratory in-services for educational purposes
Requirements
  • Associate's Degree required in related field of Science, preferably from an accredited school of Medical Laboratory Technology
  • Prior training in a laboratory setting (student training accepted)
  • ASCP or equivalent certification preferred
Working Conditions

Covid Vaccination is a requirement for employment at Jefferson for employees working at Jefferson's clinical entities or at the University.

If you are not currently vaccinated you will be required to receive the vaccination prior to hire date if you are offered employment, unless you request and receive an approved medical or religious exemption from Jefferson.
