Clinical Nurse Educator

The Clinical Nurse Educator - Behavioral Health Specialist functions as an expert clinician, educator, and researcher in behavioral health. In collaboration with the unit directors and nursing staff, the Clinical Nurse Educator monitors the clinical care of patients and provides clinical support to improve patient care and patient outcomes. As a role model, patient advocate, and change agent, the Clinical Nurse Educator is responsible for advancing expert nursing practice.
Key Responsibilities:- Utilize the nursing process (Assessment, Planning, Intervention, and Evaluation) as it applies to clinical practice, education, competency validation, and program development.
- Model the nursing process to staff members who provide direct care for patients.
- Assess and improve the patient care process for this specialty patient population through clinical consultation and direct patient care.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure that evidence-based practice is implemented and understood by the patient care staff.
- Coordinate, plan, evaluate, and provide education activities and orientation programs to nursing staff.
- Serve as a resource to nursing leadership, staff, and preceptors in the areas of nursing process, clinical knowledge, and skills.
- BSN Required
- Masters in a related field of nursing preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years as a Registered Nurse in an inpatient psychiatric department setting.
- Must be currently licensed in the State of Virginia as a RN or have the ability to obtain licensure in VA within 60 days of hire.
- CPI within 90 days of hire
