Position Overview:
The Westchester County Attorney's Office is actively looking for skilled attorneys to enhance our legal team, particularly within the Family Court Bureau.
In this capacity, attorneys will manage legal issues related to the functioning of County government, emphasizing Family Court matters. Responsibilities include representing clients in cases involving child welfare, juvenile offenses, and child support obligations.
- Ideal candidates should demonstrate a strong interest in criminal and family law.
- Ability to operate independently while showcasing excellent litigation, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Exceptional decision-making capabilities, outstanding organizational skills, and leadership attributes.
- Comprehensive knowledge of criminal law, the Family Court Act, Social Services Law, and evidentiary principles.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with various stakeholders in a dynamic environment.
Applicants for the child support position will need to pass a background check conducted by the U.S. Department of Justice. Previous experience as a Family Court attorney or prosecutor is preferred.
Qualifications Required:
Candidates must possess a law degree (LLB or JD) and be admitted to the New York State Bar. Experience in Family Court is advantageous.
