Emergency Medical Technician

$10,000.00 Sign-on/Retention Bonus available.
Starting Pay: $31.92 per hour, determined by previous EMS and Paramedic experience.
Earn an additional $2.00 per hour for weekend shifts (Friday night through Monday morning).
Position Overview
As a Paramedic, you will act as a representative of the organization in various roles and situations. Under general or administrative supervision, you will independently utilize established methods and procedures to determine the appropriate course of action in various scenarios.
Key Responsibilities
During your shift, you will perform essential job functions and serve as a key point of observation for emerging issues that may impact operations and employee safety. This role requires a thorough understanding of the policies, procedures, and regulations that govern the organization’s operations.
Essential Duties
1. Arrive on time, prepared for work, and free from any impairments.
2. Utilize all EMT-B and AEMT intermediate skills and equipment effectively.
3. Operate under Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Basic Trauma Life Support (BTLS) standards.
4. Demonstrate proficiency in using cardiac monitors/defibrillators and administering intravenous medications and fluids.
5. Respond to emergency calls and navigate to the scene using the safest and most efficient route.
6. Assess the safety of the scene, gain access to patients, and evaluate the extent of injuries or illnesses.
7. Communicate with dispatch for additional assistance as needed.
8. Monitor and document vital signs and changes in the patient's condition.
9. Assist in lifting and transporting patients to the ambulance.
10. Report observations and care provided both verbally and in writing.
11. Conduct inspections of vehicles, equipment, and supplies, addressing any issues within your capacity.
Representative Duties
In addition to the essential functions, you will relay operational concerns regarding your crew, vehicle, equipment, and supplies to the Shift Leader. You will also address complaints from various stakeholders and promptly notify the on-duty Shift Leader.

Qualifications
1. Must possess and maintain NYS AEMT-P certification.
2. General knowledge of operational policies is required.
3. Must be at least 18 years old prior to taking the written certification exam.
4. Effective communication skills via telephone and radio equipment are essential.
5. Ability to lift, carry, and balance up to 125 pounds (250 pounds with assistance).
6. Proficient in interpreting oral, written, and diagnostic instructions.
7. Capable of interviewing patients and their families.
8. Competent in documenting relevant information accurately.
9. Ability to collaborate with other providers for optimal patient care decisions.
Minimum Qualifications
1. Current certification by the New York State Department of Health, Bureau of Emergency Medical Services as an AEMT-Paramedic.
2. Proficient in utilizing EMT-B and AEMT intermediate skills and equipment.
3. Knowledgeable in ACLS and BTLS standards.
4. Competent in the use of cardiac monitors/defibrillators and intravenous medications and fluids.
Preferred Qualifications
1. Possession of a Class 'D' New York State Driver License or equivalent without any record of suspension or revocation.
