Key Responsibilities
  • Pre-Operative Preparation: Assist in preparing the operating room, setting up equipment, and ensuring all necessary instruments and supplies are available.
  • Surgical Instrument Management: Handle, monitor, and process sterile instruments, supplies, and equipment during surgical procedures.
  • Anticipatory Care: Understand procedures being performed and anticipate the needs of the surgeon to ensure seamless execution.
  • Post-Operative Care: Assist in cleaning and preparing instruments for terminal sterilization, and maintain accurate records of sterilization procedures.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Inspect instruments and equipment for signs of damage and wear, and perform routine maintenance tasks as needed.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure effective communication and coordination.
Requirements
  • Education: Graduation from a nationally accredited education program for surgical technologists, or completion of a military surgical technology program.
  • Certifications: Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential administered by a nationally accredited surgical technologist credentialing organization, or current NYS LPN license.
  • Skills: Strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Clinical Experience: Previous experience in a surgical setting, preferably in a hospital or medical facility.
