Position Overview:
Responsible for delivering routine direct and indirect patient care in various healthcare settings, including hospitals, clinics, and home health environments. All duties are performed under the supervision of a registered nurse or physician.
FLEX Department Overview:
The FLEX department encompasses a team of professionals who provide support across multiple clinical areas within the organization. Employees in this department may work at different facilities, including hospital campuses and hospice care settings. Flexible scheduling is available, with 12-hour shifts required, including weekends and holidays. The FLEX team consists of over 80 members, including nurses and nursing assistants.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist healthcare providers during routine examinations and procedures, ensuring the availability of necessary equipment and supplies in emergency situations.
- In psychiatric settings, support patients with reality orientation, engage in behavior modification plans, and provide informal therapeutic support to patients and their families.
- Monitor, document, and report significant changes in patient conditions to the supervising nurse or physician.
- Guide patients and their families through the admission process, orientation, and discharge procedures.
- Deliver care and treatments as specified in the care plan, including vital sign measurements, specimen collection, and basic wound care.
- Provide personal care to patients, assisting with daily living activities such as bathing, dressing, and mobility.
- Perform indirect care tasks, including maintaining cleanliness in the work area, changing linens, and restocking supplies.
- Reinforce patient education provided by the registered nurse or physician and document patient comprehension of instructions.

Education Requirements:
High School diploma or GED is required.
Licensure/Certification Requirements:
Must be listed as Nursing Assistant I with the appropriate health department. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for Healthcare Providers is also required.
Professional Experience Requirements:
A minimum of six months of relevant experience as a nursing assistant is preferred, which may include completion of a nursing assistant training program.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Proficiency in verbal and written English, along with basic computer skills, is essential.
