This Occupational Therapist position plays a critical role in providing treatment to patients by evaluating their function and selecting and applying appropriate treatments to improve or restore function. The ideal candidate will participate in an interdisciplinary approach for in-servicing and community education and in the clinical education of affiliating students.
This position requires strong English communication skills, both verbal and written. Proficiency in the use of Windows-based programs needed for department functions is also essential. Basic keyboarding skills are desirable but not required for Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and internet search capabilities.
Required Skills and Qualifications- Graduate of an accredited program of Physical Therapy with a minimum of a B.S.
- Holds a current Connecticut license in Physical Therapy
- Strong English communication skills, both verbal and written
- Proficient in the use of Windows-based programs needed for department functions

- Evaluates patients based on departmental standards
- Conducts and modifies evaluations based on patient symptoms, activity level, and medical status
- Treats patients with therapeutic exercises (strength, endurance, coordination, and ROM)
- Administers physical agents (modalities) and manual therapeutic technique to relieve pain
- Utilizes effective techniques to assist in normalizing motor activity and learning
- Educates patients/families in home exercise programs and functional activities
- Determines when a patient has achieved maximal benefit from treatment and recommends discharge
- Documents patient information according to insurance guidelines and adheres to department policies and procedures
- Seeks interdepartmental communication and communication with referring physicians regarding patient care
- Fills out and submits charges daily
- Adheres to professional code of ethics established by the APTA and facility
- Performs all duties with proper body mechanics and safety to prevent injuries
