Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Optician to join our team at Amtec Inc. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting patients with proper frame and lens selection, educating them on various options, and ensuring proper fit and measurements for all lens types.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide exceptional customer service and ensure each patient interaction exceeds their expectations.
  • Educate patients on various options for clear lenses, sunglasses, and other eye care needs.
  • Verify patient insurance and explain their benefits.
  • Dispense glasses and ensure patients are informed about adaptation to new prescriptions, lens types, etc.
  • Assist with repairs and adjustments.
  • Return patient phone calls in a timely manner and inform them of any delays with eye-wear purchased.
  • Assist with other tasks as needed in the office.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Two to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Lab experience in edging, finishing, and surfacing preferred.

Preferred Skills:

  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Strong relationship building skills with customers.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with fellow co-workers, supervisors, and managers.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing software, payroll systems, spreadsheet software, inventory software, order processing systems, project management software, word processing software, and electronic mail software.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents, write routine reports, and speak effectively before groups.
  • Optical knowledge and experience preferred.
  • Ability to cross-train and assist other roles in the office as needed.
