Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Electrical Systems Engineer to join our team at the Naval Sea Systems Command. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for the design, development, and testing of electrical systems and subsystems for our Laser Weapon Systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Apply systems engineering principles to design, develop, and test electrical systems and subsystems.
- Execute technical analysis, design, and prototyping efforts to develop effective high-energy power and conditioning systems.
- Collaborate with a team of scientists, engineers, technicians, and administrative personnel to develop technical products.
- Participate in Laser Weapon System development activities across the system lifecycle, including requirements definition, system design, trade analyses, prototyping, developmental testing, platform integration, and fielding.
- Interface with systems engineering, technical experts, configuration management, and customers to clarify tasking, identify problems, suggest changes, and develop and document final solutions.
- Provide subject matter expertise in assigned technical areas.
- Develop technical reports, briefings, conference papers, and systems engineering technical review (SETR) artifacts.
Requirements:
- Must be a US Citizen.
- Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
- Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.
- New employees to the Department of the Navy will be required to successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final Secret security clearance prior to entrance on duty.
- This position is covered under the Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA).
Qualifications:
- At least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the ND-3 pay band (GS-9 through GS-11 equivalency) in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.
- Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: As a professional engineer applying systems engineering principles to design, develop, or test and evaluate electrical systems and subsystems.
Education:
- Successful completion of a professional engineering degree.
- OR Current registration as an Engineer Intern (EI), Engineer in Training (EIT), or licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE) by any State, the District of Columbia, Guam, or Puerto Rico.
- OR Evidence of having successfully passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) examination or any other written test required for professional registration by an engineering licensure board in the various States, the District of Columbia, Guam, and Puerto Rico.
