Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled HVAC Mechanic to join our team at the University. As a key member of our Facilities Management department, you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of building heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems and controls.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform skilled work in the installation, maintenance, and repair of building HVAC systems and controls.
  • Confer with supervisor/s regarding all aspects of assigned duties and communicate with University campus partners.
  • Access information utilizing computers and promote a workplace culture that encourages safety within the shop and in the field.
  • Operate a University vehicle to transport materials, tools, and equipment.
Requirements
  • High School diploma, Vermont Natural Gas Installer Certification, or ability to acquire within six months.
  • Three years' experience in HVAC equipment and controls installation, maintenance, and repair required.
  • Refrigerant Recovery Certification required.
  • Experience using computers and mobile technology required.
  • Valid driver's license or ability to obtain and driver's check required.
Working Conditions

This is a bargaining unit position with the United Electrical Workers. Occasional evening and/or weekends may be required. External candidates must complete a 4-month probationary period. A probationary period may be required for current UVM employees.

What We Offer

We offer a competitive hourly rate of $29 to $31/hour and a 40-hour work week. A post-offer pre-employment physical examination is required.
