The Head of IT Infrastructure Operations oversees the provision of all IT infrastructure and associated operational services that empower business functions and offerings throughout the organization.

This position reports directly to the Senior Vice President, Chief Information Officer, and includes direct oversight of Network and Systems Administrators.


The individual in this role is expected to bring a wealth of experience, insight, and a forward-thinking approach to evolving the Infrastructure and Operations domain, including its strategic direction, operational framework, service offerings, and workforce development.

This position plays a crucial role in managing relationships with external infrastructure and operational service providers.


As a vital member of the IT leadership team, this role contributes to the formulation and implementation of the comprehensive IT strategy for the organization, ensuring that the Infrastructure and Operations strategy is fully integrated and positioned to deliver significant business value.

Team Leadership:
Responsible for all aspects of team management, including performance evaluations, accountability assessments, and disciplinary measures.


Collaborates with team members to foster their professional growth, support their development, and help them achieve their potential.

Ensures that all tasks assigned to team members are executed efficiently and promptly to deliver exceptional service. Continuously seeks opportunities to streamline processes and enhance efficiency.

Infrastructure Oversight:
Conducts assessments of infrastructure requirements and provides strategic guidance to team members regarding infrastructure design, integration, and deployment.

Ensures timely and efficient maintenance, upgrades, and patching of all infrastructure with minimal disruption to operations.

Introduces innovative and distinctive infrastructure and operational capabilities that bolster overall competitive advantage and enhance employee productivity.


Collaborates with vendors and internal stakeholders to ensure that the organization's computing systems deliver the necessary resources to meet business service and performance expectations.

Assesses existing systems and requirements to align with organizational needs. Provides input to the SVP-CIO regarding budget considerations for modifications and upgrades. Develops strategic plans to support business objectives and initiatives.

Through effective management of direct reports, maximizes the utilization and efficiency of assigned IT systems.

Ensures that comprehensive documentation for assigned systems is created and maintained, adhering to change management protocols.

Works closely with vendors and business partners to negotiate contracts and services that align with the organization's best interests.

Stays informed about industry trends and best practices related to assigned responsibilities. Shares knowledge and insights with the team. May represent the organization at industry conferences, technical meetings, and professional associations.


Regularly monitors systems to identify deficiencies and, in the event of significant network issues, ensures timely communication and recovery strategies are implemented.

Ensures that network systems comply with disaster recovery and IT security standards.


Collaborates with Information Security leadership to ensure that infrastructure adheres to the organization's Information Security Program and all relevant regulations, and that infrastructure is configured and secured according to industry best practices.


Partners with Helpdesk leadership to define, develop, and manage a comprehensive IT Service Management (ITSM) framework, based on best-practice methodologies and tools, such as ITIL and COBIT.

This includes the delivery of a robust IT asset management program.

Establishes and maintains strong collaborative relationships with all departments regarding IT Infrastructure matters.

Coordinates integrated contingency planning and business continuity efforts across the organization.


Aligns IT Infrastructure projects with the organization's strategic goals as outlined by senior management.

Provides the SVP-CIO with relevant Key Performance Indicator (KPI) metrics and analyzes data to identify gaps and propose solutions.


Leads significant cross-functional projects by coordinating with internal teams; provides resources and support to ensure project success; manages projects to meet timelines and deliverables.


Develops and implements strategies to enhance awareness of the business value provided by the IT Infrastructure function, continuously seeking alignment with customer needs.


Participates in the IT Steering Committee and other relevant committees to present on matters related to IT infrastructure and operations.

Secondary Responsibilities (5%):

Serves on designated committees.

Manages special projects as assigned.

Performs additional duties as required.

Complies with BSA requirements as appropriate for the position.

Education and Experience:
A degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Engineering, or equivalent professional experience is required. General knowledge of staff supervision and HR policies is essential. Pursuit of relevant industry certifications in network and systems administration or information security is encouraged.

Experience:


A minimum of seven years of experience in information systems security and IT Infrastructure within a mid-sized organization or equivalent is required to effectively drive IT initiatives and objectives for the assigned area; with at least two years of staff management experience to acquire the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to manage all aspects of the position or equivalent.

Experience in the financial services sector is preferred.

Technological Proficiency:
The Head of IT Infrastructure Operations should possess experience with the following technologies:
