Key Responsibilities- Community Engagement: Attend and participate in community forums dealing with substance abuse and mental health issues, and engage individuals in discussions to promote understanding and hope for recovery.
- Service Coordination: Assist individuals in enrolling for services provided by community behavioral health providers and facilitate problem-solving and communication skills development through peer group support.
- Recovery Planning: Assist individuals in developing and maintaining a personal recovery plan, including identifying strengths, needs, and goals, and providing support in reaching these goals.
- Treatment Team Collaboration: Attend treatment team meetings to promote and support consumer insight to recovery.
- Community Liaison: Provide specific community liaison services as assigned by supervisor.
- Education and Experience: Requires a high school diploma or G.E.D. and at least one (1) year of full-time experience in a mental health or addictions treatment setting.
- Certification: Obtain certification as a Peer Recovery Specialist by the Florida Certification Board.
- Knowledge and Skills: Requires knowledge of addictions treatment and/or mental health treatment programs and supportive services, as well as a general understanding of the causes, nature, and treatment of substance abuse and/or mental health problems.
