About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and customer-focused Merchandise Sales Associate to join our team at HomeGoods. As a Merchandise Sales Associate, you will play a key role in delivering an exceptional customer experience by engaging with customers, embodying our customer experience principles, and maintaining a clean and organized store environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Customer Service: Role model established customer experience practices with internal and external customers, providing a highly satisfied customer experience.
  • Store Culture: Support and embody a positive store culture through honesty, integrity, and respect, promoting a positive and inclusive work environment.
  • Operations: Accurately ring customer purchases/returns and count change back to customer according to established operating procedures, promoting a seamless and efficient customer experience.
  • Merchandising: Maintain and uphold merchandising philosophy and follow established merchandising procedures and standards, ensuring a visually appealing and well-organized store environment.
  • Inventory Management: Accurately process and prepare merchandise for the sales floor following company procedures and standards, ensuring accurate inventory levels and minimizing stock discrepancies.
  • Store Recovery: Initiate and participate in store recovery as needed throughout the day, maintaining a clean and organized store environment.
  • Organizational Standards: Maintain all organizational, cleanliness, and recovery standards for the sales floor and participate in the maintenance/cleanliness of the entire store.
  • Communication: Provide and accept recognition and constructive feedback, promoting open and honest communication throughout the team.
  • Adherence to Policies: Adhere to all labor laws, policies, and procedures, ensuring compliance with company standards and regulations.
  • Shrink Reduction: Support and participate in store shrink reduction goals and programs, promoting a culture of accountability and responsibility.
  • Safety Awareness: Participate in safety awareness and maintain a safe environment, ensuring a secure and healthy work environment for all employees.

  • Customer Service Skills: Possess excellent customer service skills, providing a high level of customer satisfaction and ensuring a positive customer experience.
  • Flexibility: Able to work a flexible schedule to support business needs, adapting to changing priorities and demands.
  • Communication and Organizational Skills: Possess strong communication and organizational skills with attention to detail, ensuring accurate and efficient completion of tasks.
  • Multi-Tasking: Capable of multi-tasking, prioritizing tasks, and managing multiple responsibilities simultaneously.
  • Adaptability: Able to respond appropriately to changes in direction or unexpected situations, adapting to new information and priorities.
  • Physical Demands: Capable of lifting heavy objects with or without reasonable accommodation, ensuring a safe and healthy work environment.
  • Teamwork: Works effectively with peers and supervisors, promoting a positive and inclusive work environment.
  • Retail Experience: Retail customer experience preferred, with a strong understanding of customer needs and expectations.
