Job Description Summary

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing general maintenance work to ensure the hotel's physical plant quality and safety standards are achieved and maintained. This includes taking care of the building, equipment, and grounds of the hotel.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver exceptional service to guests and clients according to the Sonesta G.U.E.S.T. standards.
  • Identify and report hazardous situations, emergencies, or threats to the security of guests, associates, or hotel assets.
  • Complete work orders, including replacing ceiling tiles, filters, light bulbs, patching vinyl, painting, and repairing plumbing, electrical, and HVAC systems.
  • Perform preventative maintenance duties as assigned, including monitoring equipment efficiency and making minor repairs.
  • Refurbish furniture and fixtures, including painting and finishing as needed.
  • Maintain the safety and cleanliness of the exterior of the facility, grounds, pool, and exercise/sport facilities.
  • Ensure the security of inventory and assets, including tools, supplies, equipment, and furniture.
  • Maintain the front entrance area, parking lot, and street entrance in a clean and presentable manner.
  • Prepare and operationalize assigned equipment for the following day's work.
  • Perform maintenance and repair work on buildings, hotel rooms, and contents, including laundry and kitchen/refrigeration equipment, lighting, HVAC, ventilation, and water treatment systems.
  • Perform preventive maintenance as outlined in the PM Works program, including inspecting buildings, furniture, bathrooms, guest rooms, and equipment to ensure proper functioning and efficiency.
Requirements:
  • Advanced vocational training plus two years of experience in general building maintenance or construction, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Previous experience in the extended stay industry or apartment building maintenance is preferred.
  • Knowledge of basic plumbing, carpentry, electricity, and equipment mechanics.
  • Ability to speak, read, and write fluent English; other languages beneficial.
  • Mathematical skills, including basic math, budgeting, profit/loss concepts, percentages, and variances.
  • Problem-solving, reasoning, motivating, organizational, and training abilities.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Frequently standing, bending, climbing, kneeling, and moving about the facility.
  • Frequently handling objects and equipment to maintain the facility.
  • Will be required to regularly use commercial chemicals.
  • Carrying, lifting, or pulling items weighing up to 75 pounds.
  • Will be required to work mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
