We are seeking a highly skilled Food Safety and Quality Assurance Technician to join our team at Steven Charles. As a key member of our quality assurance team, you will be responsible for ensuring the highest standards of food safety and quality in our production processes.
Key Responsibilities
• Perform process check verifications, including weight, height, width, length, diameter, and packaging checks on food samples at established frequencies.
• Conduct CCP and preventive control checks, such as temperature, metal, and X-ray detector checks, to ensure food product safety.
• Verify quality check points on different food product lines accurately and at established frequencies to ensure compliance.
• Perform product reviews and sensory evaluations for taste, appearance, and flavor on the production line.
• Collect food ingredients and finished food product samples for microbiological laboratory and retain samples.
• Perform pre-op inspections on machines and swabbing to ensure machines are adequately cleaned and ready for production.
• Complete daily paperwork and ensure accuracy in data entry.
• Communicate with leads and supervisors when product is outside of established limits.
• Follow instructions for increased monitoring or holding of product until the defect is corrected or reworked.
• Ensure all work assigned is performed in accordance with written specifications, instructions, and requirements.
• Monitor labels to ensure they meet regulatory and customer requirements.
• Conduct in-house basic hygiene, GMP, and food safety audits on assigned production lines to ensure compliance.
• Support QA lead or designee in quality issue investigations.
• Perform weigh scale calibrations daily or at set frequency.
• Ensure accuracy of data entry by other techs at the end of the day.
• Fill QA data on the customer portal.
Requirements
• High school diploma or equivalent required; food safety and quality experience preferred.
• 1+ years of QA experience in food manufacturing environment.
• Ability to work in 3rd shift if needed (10:00 pm to 06:30 am).
• Strong attention to detail and ability to interpret and follow SOPs, instructions, and quality management software system.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Intermediate computer skills.
• Ability to work on some weekends and overtime.
• Must be able to stand for at least 10 hours per day and perform physical tasks such as lifting, bending, and pushing/pulling up to 45 pounds.
