We are seeking a highly skilled Cytotechnologist to join our team at WVU Medicine. As a Cytotechnologist, you will play a critical role in the diagnosis and treatment of patients by analyzing cytological specimens and providing accurate and timely results.
Key Responsibilities- Perform and analyze cytological specimens to identify abnormal and normal cells
- Work closely with Pathologists to review and interpret specimens
- Recognize and classify findings, including abnormal and normal cells
- Participate in the training and supervision of new employees
- Perform quality assurance and control procedures to ensure accurate and reliable results
- Participate in proficiency testing and interpretation
- Certified by the American Society of Clinical Pathologist (ASCP) or equivalent agency as a Cytotechnologist
- Licensed by the state of West Virginia within 6 months of employment
- Previous laboratory experience preferred
The Cytotechnologist will work in a fast-paced laboratory environment, performing procedures and operating instrumentation while wearing protective apparel. The position may be exposed to virus, disease, and infection from patients and specimens.
Skills and Abilities- Able to use a computer keyboard, monitor, and mouse
- Able to communicate verbally, written, and electronically with healthcare personnel, families, and patients
- Able to use numerous types of laboratory equipment
