Position Overview:
  • Oversee the engineering initiatives for the Optical Module component of a sophisticated laser communication optical terminal.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop the Optical Module component to meet system performance metrics and project goals.
  • Coordinate both internal and external interfaces to ensure payload compatibility and operational efficiency in space.
  • Engage with multidisciplinary teams to foster collaboration.
  • Establish technical specifications and design parameters for the Optical Module.
  • Lead the approach for flight qualification processes.
  • Contribute to the principles of Design for Manufacturability.
  • Direct the design, development, and performance validation efforts.
Essential Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Optical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or a related discipline.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in short-wave infrared optical systems engineering tailored for space applications.
  • Comprehensive understanding of electro-optical-mechanical payloads designed for space conditions.
  • Experience with the lifecycle of aerospace optical systems.
  • Proficiency in opto-mechanical systems.
  • Familiarity with subsystem and component-level specifications.
  • Authorization to work in the U.S.
Desirable Qualifications:
  • Advanced degree in a relevant field.
  • Specialization in optical communications and laser technologies.
  • Proven leadership in projects involving space-based optical systems.
  • Strong communication abilities.
  • Security clearance is a plus.
