Nurse Care Specialist Job Description

Cavalier Healthcare of Trussville LLC is seeking a skilled Nurse Care Specialist to join our team. As a Nurse Care Specialist, you will provide high-quality nursing care to our residents, ensuring their physical and emotional well-being.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assess and document resident status, developing plans for treatment and resolution.
  • Monitor resident activity, providing care in accordance with physician orders and facility protocol.
  • Coordinate admissions, transfers, and discharges, ensuring a smooth transition for residents.
  • Communicate effectively with residents, families, and healthcare professionals regarding resident status.
  • Take and record vital signs, administering medications and treatments as needed.
  • Schedule job assignments and duties for Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs), ensuring adequate supervision and guidance.
  • Take report at the start of each shift, ensuring timely and accurate documentation of resident needs.
  • Be observant for changes in resident condition, notifying supervisors, physicians, and family members as needed.
  • Visit residents regularly, providing emotional support and addressing concerns.
  • Supervise and assist with feeding, administering tube feedings as necessary.
  • Order medications from the pharmacy, ensuring timely and accurate processing.
  • Carry out physician orders, including lab slips, x-ray requests, and MAR.
  • Provide routine nursing documentation, adhering to facility protocol.
  • Prepare residents for outings, ensuring their safety and well-being.
  • Answer phone calls professionally, responding to resident complaints and requests.
  • Complete incident reports as needed, maintaining a safe and clean environment.
  • Count controlled drugs at the start and end of each shift, ensuring accurate inventory.
  • Report occupational exposure, following facility protocol for Workers' Compensation claims.

Requirements:

  • Current licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of employment.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing tasks and managing time effectively.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work with residents, families, and healthcare professionals.
  • Physical stamina to perform job duties, including standing, walking, and lifting.
