Position Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Histotechnologist to support our Pathology Unit. This role is essential in providing high-quality diagnostic services through meticulous preparation of tissue samples.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Prepare microscopic slides from tissue samples for diagnostic evaluation, which includes fixation, dehydration, infiltration, embedding, microtomy, and mounting for both paraffin-processed and frozen sections.
2. Conduct histochemical and immunohistochemical staining on various tissues to aid in accurate diagnosis.
3. Manage specimen accessioning, ensuring all manual and computerized data entry is completed accurately.
4. Prepare and maintain all necessary reagents, including stains, alcohols, and paraffins, adhering to proper specifications.
5. Ensure the laboratory and equipment are maintained to high standards, keeping accurate records of quality assurance control.
6. Assist in the training and implementation of new procedures within the lab.
7. Handle the disposal of hazardous materials, including formalin and tissue samples.
8. Monitor morgue refrigeration alarms and respond appropriately.
9. Perform any additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
- A Bachelor's degree in applied science is required. Alternatively, 4 or more years of relevant Histology experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- A minimum of 1-2 years of experience as a Histotechnologist is preferred if degree requirements are met.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Current and active certification from the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) as a Histotechnologist (HT) or Histotechnologist (HTL).
