Role Summary

The Senior Motorsports Engineer plays a crucial role in the technical planning and execution of engineering tasks during testing, exhibitions, and competitive events. This position involves overseeing a team of engineers under the guidance of the Technical Director, implementing strategies aimed at enhancing vehicle performance and reliability.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead engineering teams and manage projects as assigned.
  • Prepare vehicles in the workshop, including setup and coordination with various departments such as composites and fabrication.
  • Collaborate with the Production Manager to prioritize requests and manage workload effectively.
  • Diagnose technical issues on race vehicles, including electronic and mechanical systems.
  • Oversee vehicle shakedown and commissioning prior to events, making necessary adjustments.
  • Enhance chassis setup based on driver feedback and data analysis.
  • Coordinate race day activities with the race engineer and lead technicians.
  • Engage professionally with scrutineers, race officials, and other teams.
  • Document outing data and prepare technical reports summarizing events.
  • Develop engineering reports for senior management as needed.
  • Provide training to race engineers and technicians on best practices.
  • Monitor inventory of car, truck, and workshop parts, ensuring restocking within budget.
  • Advise on necessary updates or testing, preparing comprehensive test plans and reports.
  • Adhere to health, safety, and environmental regulations, maintaining a clean work environment.
  • Perform additional duties to support various racing initiatives.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in high-level motorsport with a professional racing team.
  • Experience with electric vehicles is advantageous.

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a dynamic environment, demonstrating excellent organizational skills.
  • Team-oriented with a high level of integrity.
  • Effective time management and communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and related software.
  • Capability to operate hand and machine tools safely in challenging conditions.
  • Reliability and punctuality are essential for success in this role.
Physical Requirements
  • Frequent standing, walking, or sitting for extended periods; manual dexterity is required.
  • Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds regularly and up to 75 pounds occasionally.
  • Specific vision requirements include close and distance vision, with the ability to adjust focus.
