Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Nurse to join our team at Cumberland County School District. As a Staff Nurse I, you will play a vital role in promoting the health and well-being of our students.

Key Responsibilities
  • Administer medications as prescribed by doctors and maintain secure storage of all medications.
  • Provide first aid as needed and oversee general health needs.
  • Administer or assist with treatments needed by students, including catheterizations, tube feedings, and nebulizers as prescribed by doctors.
  • Assist with various screenings, check blood pressures and temperatures of staff and students as needed, and maintain infection control procedures.
  • Maintain health records, including accurate logs of medication given daily and students seen and treatments given daily.
  • Fill out necessary accident reports and report to the principal any medical situations that might affect the overall well-being of individuals or the school.
  • Visit classrooms to provide information regarding the importance of vaccinations, assist in calling home when students are absent to determine reasons for absences and encourage vaccinations, and work with the local pharmacy to set up vaccination clinics for students, staff, and families.
  • Educate families at events such as Back to School nights, after-school activities, and parent-teacher conferences, and make information available to counter misinformation regarding vaccinations.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding school/workplace matters, model and maintain high ethical standards, and perform other tasks consistent with the goals and objectives of this position as directed by the supervisor.
  • Document all trainings, parental contacts, and activities related to the grant.
Requirements
  • Has a minimum of RN license.
  • Possesses current First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Has previous nursing experience.
  • Has knowledge of public health nursing as it applies to the public school system.
  • Is able to perform all duties of Staff Nurse I, which may require lifting or bending.
  • Possesses such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent deems appropriate and acceptable.
  • Is able to pass the background check.
Working Conditions

This is a grant-funded position and may not extend beyond the length of the grant, which is March 31, 2025.
