Job SummaryThe Maintenance Manager will oversee the fleet maintenance program, ensuring safe and effective vehicle upkeep. This includes scheduling employees, coordinating work with outside vendors, and developing efficient repair schedules.
Responsibilities- Schedule employees for the department and ensure effective supervision of mechanics and other shop workers.
- Select, train, motivate, and evaluate assigned personnel.
- Coordinate work performed by outside vendors.
- Oversee the development of efficient repair schedules and review repair cost estimates.
- Approve priority of maintenance and repairs based on availability of materials and parts and requirements of scheduled operations.
- Help ensure that company and client equipment is maintained and operating efficiently.
- Ensure that all vehicles are fueled, cleaned, and properly working.
- Develop and implement safety policies and procedures for the department and maintain a safe working environment.
- Participate in the development and administration of the operational budget.
- Identify opportunities for improving service delivery methods.
- Ensure that property, grounds, and facilities are clean and well organized.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- ASE Certification.
- CDL Class B (or higher) with passenger and airbrake endorsements preferred but not required.
- 5 years or more of progressively responsible experience in the repair and maintenance of all types of heavy-duty automotive and transit equipment, including at least 3 years of supervisory experience.
- Good written and oral communication skills.
- Broad understanding of all mechanical systems related to heavy-duty transportation vehicles.
- Familiarity with laws/regulations associated with the safe operation of maintenance facilities.
- Ability to read, interpret, and apply documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and other mechanical and/or electrical diagrams.
- Ability to read and write routine reports, forms, and other documentation or correspondence.
- Working knowledge and proficiency with Microsoft Office.
- Ability to organize and perform work efficiently, strong attention to detail.
