Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Physicist to join our team at United Hospital Center. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting the Radiation Oncologist and other Medical Physicists in various aspects of radiation therapy, including IMRT QA, dosimetry, calibration, treatment planning, and radiation protection.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with treatment planning and development of computerized treatment planning.
  • Perform dosimetry for Iridium, Cesium, and other isotopes as needed for Brachytherapy.
  • Assist in the oversight of use of ionizing radiation to ensure compliance with Federal and State regulations.
  • Perform calibration of x-ray equipment and radiation protection surveys as needed.
  • Provide calibration of sealed sources and ensure accountability of sealed sources and therapeutic isotopes.
  • Assist technologists, dosimetrist, and chief medical physicist with patient set-ups and make periodic checks of radiotherapy charts.
  • Calibrate therapy machines and work with the Radiation Oncologists to develop new methods of treatment.
Requirements
  • Master of Science degree in Physics, Radiation Physics, or equivalent.
  • Certification in therapeutic radiological physics within 3 years of hire.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Working Environment

The Medical Physicist will work in a fast-paced environment with exposure to ionizing and non-ionizing radiations, film processing chemicals, and other hazardous materials. The successful candidate must be able to work effectively in a team environment and maintain a professional working relationship with all departmental associates.
