POSITION SUMMARY FOR PHYSICIANS (M.D. / D.O.)

The Staff Physician operates under the guidance of the Site Medical Director, exercising considerable independence in judgment and initiative. This role is crucial to the medical team, providing essential health care services to our patients.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS FOR PHYSICIANS (M.D. / D.O.)

  • Must hold a valid Physician license in the state of employment.
  • Current DEA registration is required.
  • Board certification and compliance with state laws/regulations to practice medicine.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF PHYSICIANS (M.D. / D.O.)

  • Ensures Medical Record documentation adheres to SOAP format, is problem-oriented, and aligns with therapeutic orders.
  • Maintains documentation that is timely, legible, and appropriately signed.
  • Ensures all verbal or telephone orders are countersigned within seventy-two (72) hours.
  • Follows the approved formulary for therapeutic regimens before considering non-formulary procedures.
  • Documents significant observations and logical conclusions to support the need for non-formulary medications.
  • Utilizes in-house resources for treatment and resolution of identified issues before referring off-site.
  • Provides emergency treatment on-site and responds effectively in urgent situations.
  • Demonstrates proper techniques for cardiopulmonary resuscitation and related drug therapies.
  • Supports medical care standards through adherence to established policies and procedures.
  • Acts as a resource for other professional and non-professional personnel, providing guidance as necessary.
  • Participates in required medical staff meetings and provides monthly in-service education as requested.
  • Engages in monthly quality care reviews and chart evaluations as needed.
  • Sponsors Physician Assistants as required.
  • Communicates schedule changes to the Site Medical Director and/or Site Health Services Administrator.
  • Assists in arranging coverage for medical services during extended absences.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Site Medical Director.
