Job Overview

POSITION SUMMARY

The Residential Care Specialist is responsible for delivering direct support services to clients of Gesher in both group and individual home environments.

REQUIREMENTS

Education:

High School Diploma or equivalent GED

Additional Qualifications:

  • Must possess a minimum of a high school diploma and be at least 18 years old
  • Valid Michigan driver's license with a minimum of three years of driving experience; personal vehicle required for work, along with appropriate insurance and registration
  • Flexibility and familiarity with basic housekeeping tasks

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Execute client treatment plans as established by the treatment team
  • Follow daily routines as designated
  • Facilitate access to recreational, cultural, and spiritual activities for clients
  • Provide transportation for clients to vocational programs, medical appointments, and community activities using company or personal vehicles (if applicable)
  • Assist clients with mobility, balance, strength, and other physical challenges
  • Document daily interactions and activities in client logs, including health, hygiene, and household responsibilities
  • Support clients with household tasks or perform chores when clients are unable or unwilling to do so, such as laundry and meal preparation
  • Review and sign medication administration records
  • Ensure accurate medication administration and documentation
  • Attend all mandatory meetings
  • Adhere to attendance policies
  • Assist clients with daily living challenges
  • Provide emotional support and encouragement
  • Implement emergency procedures as needed
  • Maintain accurate records of any funds entrusted
  • Serve as a positive role model for clients and colleagues
  • Participate in scheduled staff meetings and supervision sessions with the house manager
  • Uphold the mission and core values of Gesher
  • Comply with the NASW Code of Ethics, Adult Protection Code, Mental Health Code, and C.A.R.F. guidelines
  • Conduct oneself in a professional manner at all times
  • Complete all required training and assignments
  • May be requested to cover additional shifts as necessary
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the house manager

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Environmental Conditions:

  • Moderate noise levels typical of an office environment with computers and light traffic
  • Ability to work in confined spaces
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a computer

Physical Requirements:

  • Regularly required to stand, sit, talk, hear, and use hands for computer and telephone tasks
  • Specific vision abilities required for close computer work
  • Light to moderate lifting may be necessary

This position is classified as non-exempt and is eligible for overtime compensation in accordance with the Federal Fair Labor Standards Act.
