Phlebotomy Professional

Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Phlebotomy Professional to join our team at MEDSTAR HEALTH. As a key member of our laboratory staff, you will be responsible for collecting and processing blood samples from patients of all ages. This is a full-time position working 12:30pm-9:00pm with rotating weekends.

About the Role:
In this role, you will perform phlebotomy procedures, blood collections via venipuncture or capillary collection, on all age groups neonate, children, adolescent, adult, and geriatric, and other specimen collection as required. You will also be responsible for ordering laboratory testing, faxes, and/or calls results accurately. Additionally, you will positively identify and verify identification for all patients and/or samples per established protocol, adhere to all safety measures, and troubleshoot outliers as needed.

Requirements:
To be successful in this role, you will need 1-2 years of previous phlebotomy experience or National Healthcare Association Phlebotomy certified. You must also possess ASCP - American Society of Clinical Pathologist preferred or ASPT certification, CPR - Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation (includes BLS and NRP) for healthcare providers from either the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross within 90 Days. Additional unit/specialty certifications may vary by department or business unit. Experience with laboratory information systems (LIS) is an asset. Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment are essential.

Working Conditions:
This role requires standing for long periods, walking between departments, and lifting up to 25 pounds. You must be able to maintain attention to detail and follow procedures accurately in a high-pressure environment. A valid driver's license and reliable transportation are not required but would be beneficial for job-related travel.

Estimated Salary Range: $42,000 - $60,000 per annum based on location and qualifications.
