Job Overview

BambooHR is seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead our API and Integration teams. As a key member of our engineering leadership team, you will be responsible for managing multiple scrum teams, coaching and mentoring engineers, and collaborating with product management and UX designers to deliver software solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage 1-3 API and Integration scrum teams of Software Engineers (6-15 individuals)
  • Lead by example, demonstrating leadership and patience through regular coaching and mentoring in individual and team settings
  • Collaborate with Product Management, UX Designers, and Tech Leads to explore and deliver software solutions
  • Manage and maintain team execution roadmaps, including grooming pipelines and delivery expectations
  • Hold team and individual members accountable for performance in sprint goals and quarterly Objectives and Key Results (OKRs)
  • Participate in department hiring efforts
  • Contribute to the ongoing improvement of our systems and processes
  • Be a great culture addition and advocate for our company values

Requirements:

  • 12+ years of experience in software development
  • 5+ years of real-world, demonstrable technical leadership - 2+ years experience managing managers
  • 2+ years heavy experience owning / leading API strategies for Software Organization - Defining and enforcing API Standards
  • 3+ years heavy experience owning / leading Integration of company software with 3rd Party Partners
  • 3+ experience with REST, GraphQL, OpenAPI
  • Object-Oriented development experience
  • MySQL/MSSQL - both query language and database structure/design
  • Version control software, preferably Git
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
