Staff Accountant Job Description

The Staff Accountant is a key member of the Thrust Flight team, responsible for ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of financial transactions and reporting. This includes monitoring and reviewing transactions entered by operational departments, payroll processing, periodic reporting, reconciliations, accounts payable, and all other accounting and financial compliance areas.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Review customer invoices, receipts, and credit card transactions
  • Prepare supplier invoice payments in a timely manner
  • Generate recurring billings
  • Perform bank and merchant account reconciliations
  • Maintain an orderly accounting filing system
  • Comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements
  • Develop and document accounting processes and procedures as needed
  • Secure financial information and maintain strict confidentiality when handling sensitive information
  • Maintain inventory control and supply levels for flight student program and other items
  • Provide other support to senior management as requested
Requirements:
  • Preferred candidates will hold an Associate's or higher degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or Finance and a minimum of 1-3 years of progressively responsible experience, preferably in an accounting position with emphasis on accounting-related duties
  • Strong experience with QuickBooks Enterprise, Microsoft Office, and Google Workplace
  • Ability to pass a background check
  • Prior experience handling sensitive/confidential information
  • Excellent communication skills - written and verbal
  • Proven ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines
  • Self-motivated, self-directed, and resourceful
  • Good research skills
