Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced General Surgery and Surgical Subspecialty Physician Assistant to join our team at Hackensack Meridian Health. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the overnight inpatient and operative needs of surgical patients in conjunction with and under the supervision of an attending physician.
Responsibilities:
- Obtain a thorough patient history, including determination of their health status and primary care service needs, analysis of primary symptoms, and assessment of patient compliance with historical primary care treatment plans.
- Perform an appropriate physical examination, recognize normal and abnormal findings, and record findings in a clear and concise manner.
- Communicate with assigned Primary Care physicians regarding pertinent patient information, collaborate with physicians, family members, social workers, community contacts, and other members of the healthcare team in patient care planning.
- Develop a comprehensive education plan to meet patient/family needs, incorporate diagnosis, interventions, and expected outcomes, and communicate plans of care with the patient and family.
- Understand their role as a professional, conduct themselves in accordance with the same, and seek out other professionals to network and create positive alliances.
Qualifications:
- Masters Degree in Nursing with Advanced Nurse Practitioner credentials from an accredited Nurse Practitioner Program required for APN candidates.
- Graduate of an accredited PA school required for PA candidates.
- Demonstrates effective communication and leadership skills, including teaching principles, organizational, and presentation skills.
- Computer skills with a working knowledge of electronic medical records required.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient computer skills that may include but are not limited to Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite platforms.
Licenses and Certifications:
- Advance Practice Nurse License or Physician Assistant License required.
- AHA Basic Health Care Life Support HCP Certification required.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification - ACLS required.
- Controlled Dangerous Substances Physician Certification - C.D.S. and D.E.A. required.
