Early Childhood Education Assistant

Job Summary

The Early Childhood Education Assistant will provide support to teachers and pre-kindergarten age students in an educational or childcare environment. This role involves assisting with instructional activities, supervising children, and maintaining a safe and organized learning environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assist teachers with instructional activities, including preparing materials and equipment
  • Supervise children during activities, such as playtime, meals, and rest periods
  • Maintain a safe and organized learning environment, including cleaning and sanitizing surfaces and equipment
  • Assist with record-keeping and data entry, including tracking student progress and attendance
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the teacher or school administration

Requirements

  • Associate's degree or higher, or at least 60 semester hours from an accredited institution of higher education
  • Passing the paraprofessional certification exam (e.g., ParaPro Assessment) can substitute for the educational requirement
  • Ability to fulfill the dexterity and physical requirements of the work, and effectively attend to the needs of pre-school age children
  • Previous vocational training or work experience in a licensed childcare environment preferred
