As a Custody Officer with the City of Lynnwood, WA, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and secure custody of prisoners confined in the Lynnwood City Jail. Key Responsibilities:- Book prisoners into the jail facility using computer equipment
- Fingerprint, photograph, and search prisoners
- Maintain jail security and ensure prisoners are properly cared for and supervised
- Issue clothing and personal care items to prisoners
- Feed prisoners, supervise work details, and ensure their medical needs are met
- Monitor prisoner physical and mental health
- Serve as security for the court and monitor entrants as necessary
- Release prisoners from custody as requested by the proper authority
- Supervise trustees assigned to cleaning the jail, police station, and yard area
- Transport prisoners to and from court and other jail facilities
- Maintain proper security of all records stored in the jail
- Communicate court dates to prisoners
- Complete fingerprint requests made by the public
- Maintain equipment used in day-to-day work and jail operations
- Respond to internal alarms at the municipal court and front desk
- Serve warrants and take into custody persons who have warrants issued against them
- Order and maintain jail supplies and food for prisoners
- Maintain files of fingerprint cards, inmate health records, and other prisoner records
- Assist with work at the counter by answering questions and providing information over the phone and in person
- Accept bail money
- Must be at least 20 1/2 years old
- Possess a valid Washington State Driver's License
- Successfully pass the Lynnwood Physical Ability Test
- High School Diploma or GED
- Successful completion of the Washington State Criminal Justice Training Commission Corrections Officer's Academy or an equivalent out-of-state course
- Currently working in corrections or have worked in corrections for 12 consecutive months in the past 36 months
- Applicants must also meet the requirements of physical and medical standards of the Custody Officer Academy as prescribed by the Washington State Criminal Justice Training Commission
- A thorough medical examination, polygraph, credit check, and psychological assessment will be given prior to appointment
- Successful candidates will be subject to a background investigation conducted by the Lynnwood Police Department
