Job Title: Senior Mechanical Engineer

At The Davis Companies, we are seeking a highly skilled Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our team in Robotics Product Development. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for designing and developing new automated semiconductor test equipment, improving existing products, and providing project management on existing and new products.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop new automated semiconductor test equipment aligned with the Product Development Plan process.
  • Analyze and find root cause of existing product issues, designing solutions that will not adversely impact existing similar products in the product line.
  • Provide project management on existing and new products, including timelines, schedules, design reviews, and writing of functional specs.
  • Interface with product managers to define requirements and develop design procedures for new device packages.
  • Research, select, and test vendor products to ensure quality and reliability.
  • Support manufacturing floor and machine shop as required, and interface with customers and sales on projects as needed.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited college or university; M.S. degree preferred.
  • Minimum of six (6) years of experience with a Bachelor's degree, or five years with a Master's degree in machine design, working with designing gears, racks, mechanisms, and movements.
  • Project management experience on existing products, including timelines, schedules, design reviews, and writing functional specifications.
  • Broad knowledge of electro-mechanical systems, including automation, robotics, aluminum machining, hardened gears, thermal concerns, wear on materials, and aging.
Preferred Skills:
  • Knowledge of engineering fundamentals and analytical methods.
  • Ability to manage fast-paced direct product development projects, requiring an understanding of design from a systems engineering perspective.
  • Ability to meet objectives within cost targets, with experience in designing electro-mechanical parts, subassemblies, gears, racks, mechanisms, and movements.
  • Familiarity with automation, robotics, aluminum machining, hardened gears, thermal concerns, wear on materials, and aging.
  • Well-versed in failure element analysis (FEA), mean time between failure (MTBF), and failure modes and effect analysis (FMEA).
  • Proficiency with SolidWorks/Cosmos (latest release) and practical experience with engineering documentation.
  • In-depth knowledge of GD&T standards and applied experience.
  • Strong analysis and problem-solving skills, with strong verbal and written communication skills.
