We are currently seeking a Substance Abuse Program Specialist. This role is structured as a 10-month position, inclusive of paid time off during summer and school holiday breaks.

Work Schedule: Monday to Friday, 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and execute primary prevention initiatives within local agencies.
  • Conduct assessments for clients referred for substance use treatment from various sources, including educational institutions and community organizations.
  • Serve as a consultant within assigned school districts, providing on-site training and technical support to educational staff.
  • Maintain comprehensive client documentation in compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Foster strong relationships within the school community by being actively present and engaged.
  • Accurately document service activities, including client interactions and types of counseling provided.
  • Evaluate community needs and collaborate with supervisors to address identified gaps in services.
  • Facilitate structured educational experiences aimed at promoting healthy, substance-free lifestyles.
  • Lead discussion groups to enhance awareness of substance abuse issues and encourage healthy choices.
  • Organize activities that help participants develop essential interpersonal skills for maintaining sobriety.
  • Ensure adherence to reporting and filing protocols as mandated by funding and licensing bodies.
  • Assist in cultivating positive relationships between community substance use initiatives and other relevant organizations.
  • Utilize diverse presentation methods to effectively communicate prevention program content.
  • Participate in training sessions to remain informed about current trends in substance abuse and related issues.
  • Support the planning and procurement of educational materials and resources.
  • Uphold strict confidentiality of client records in accordance with applicable laws.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Strong expertise in addiction and mental health treatment.
  • Familiarity with HIPAA, licensing, and CARF standards.
  • Valid driver's license.
Educational Background:
  • Master's degree in chemical dependency, psychology, social work, or counseling, with relevant licensure or certification.
  • Bachelor's degree with CADC certification or in progress, along with a minimum of one year of clinical experience.
