The Nuclear Power and Energy Agency, previously known as the Kenya Nuclear Electricity Board (KNEB), is a State Corporation established under the Energy Act. The agency is tasked with the promotion and execution of Kenya's Nuclear Power Programme, alongside conducting research and development within the energy sector.

Key Responsibilities
1. Assist in identifying suitable institutions, organizations, and programs for collaborative research within the energy research and development framework.
2. Support the monitoring and evaluation of the energy sector R&D coordination framework.
3. Conduct research on the integration of oil & gas with clean and renewable energy systems.
4. Investigate technologies, techniques, and processes related to the exploration, extraction, production, transportation, and utilization of oil and gas resources to enhance safety, efficiency, recovery rates, cost-effectiveness, and minimize environmental impacts.
5. Explore the use of Data Analytics and Artificial Intelligence (AI)/Machine Learning (ML) to improve decision-making and optimize processes.
6. Participate in the evaluation of energy research outputs for dissemination and publication.
7. Assess the suitability of relevant energy R&D tools, computer codes, and models for effective project implementation.
8. Contribute to the development of an R&D competency framework for expertise in energy technologies.
9. Aid in the curation of energy R&D data and maintain up-to-date research databases.
10. Assist in formulating and implementing Intellectual Property (IP) management strategies.
11. Support the development of proposals for the commercialization of energy technologies.
12. Develop individual work plans, monitor personal performance, and seek necessary support to achieve set targets.
Qualifications
Academic and Professional Background:
A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field from a recognized institution.
Professional Membership:
Membership in the Engineers Board of Kenya.
Experience:
A minimum of four years of relevant work experience.
Skills and Competencies:
- Demonstrated merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results;
- Detail-oriented with the ability to meet deadlines while delivering high-quality results;
- Proficient in computer applications;
- Comply with the provisions of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya.
Terms of Employment:
The appointment will be on temporary terms of service for a duration of one year.
