Medical Care Specialist

Transforming Healthcare for Seniors
ChenMed is a family-owned and physician-led healthcare organization that is changing the face of primary care for seniors. We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Medical Assistant to join our team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Measure and record patient vital signs, interview and medical history.
- Communicate patient needs to the PCP, Clinician, Specialist and/or other clinical personnel.
- Prepare patients for examinations and perform routine screening tests.
- Assist physician with exams and explain treatment procedures and physicians' instructions to patients.
- Observe patients and report any changes in patient conditions to the PCP, Clinician, Specialist and/or other clinical personnel.
- Perform non-critical medical and therapeutic procedures based on medical instructions.
- Collect phlebotomy and other lab specimens and perform basic waived lab tests.
- Prepare and administer medications, change dressings, apply bandages, remove sutures and other first aid procedures.
- Maintain supplies, equipment, stocks and sterilize instruments.
- Practice OSHA safety standards and perform accurate, legal and ethical documentation.
- Process patient phone messages, return calls and route them to other team members as appropriate.
- Call patients to obtain and relay pertinent information for the physician.
- Upon physician approval and authorization, call in prescriptions to the pharmacy.
- Provide health coaching to a defined group of patients to support healthy lifestyle choices.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent education required.
- Graduation from a nationally accredited Medical Assistant program or comparable healthcare vocational training required.
- A minimum of 1 year of work experience as a Medical Assistant, Patient Care Technician or similar in a hospital, medical clinic or comparable environment required.
- BLS for Healthcare Providers required.
- Experience working with geriatric patients is a plus.
- EMR system experience preferred.
