Organization Overview:
The Lincoln Center for Family and Youth ("TLC") has been a pivotal social enterprise in the Greater Philadelphia Area for over five decades. Established in 1970 and incorporated in 1983, TLC is a nonprofit organization dedicated to delivering innovative educational, coaching, and counseling services tailored for public school students and their families.

Role Summary:
The selected candidate will align with the District's mission and vision, primarily responsible for delivering comprehensive educational, diagnostic, and therapeutic services to students facing speech and language challenges. Regular and effective communication with students, educators, and parents is essential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the educational needs of students and the execution of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
  • Engage directly with students requiring special education services and collaborate with support teams.
  • Design and implement classroom lessons and activities that cater to the varying skill levels of students, utilizing effective techniques and materials to enhance academic performance.
  • Assess speech and language issues using diverse testing methodologies; conduct both formal and informal evaluations.
  • Prepare lesson plans in accordance with Pennsylvania State Standards and student IEPs.
  • Adapt testing and assessment methods as necessary.
  • Provide therapeutic interventions for students with speech and language difficulties, including delayed speech, stuttering, voice disorders, and articulation challenges; determine and execute suitable therapeutic strategies.
  • Participate in the multidisciplinary team (MDT) evaluation process; assist in IEP development and monitor student progress towards established objectives and goals.
  • Collaborate with the School Psychologist to formulate Positive Behavior Support Plans.
  • Gather data and track student progress reports.
  • Work collaboratively with teacher assistants and other IEP team members.
  • Maintain accurate attendance records and tracking data for each enrolled student.
  • Assume additional responsibilities as assigned by the program Director.
  • Stay informed about advancements in speech and language therapy.

Required Skills and Knowledge:

  • Awareness of personal cultural identity and its influence on behavior, with a willingness to learn about the cultural identities of others.
  • Ability to foster an environment that promotes cultural competence and equitable treatment for all staff, students, and community members.
  • Understanding of child development theories, particularly regarding the impact of speech and language disorders on educational performance.
  • Familiarity with Pennsylvania Core Standards and relevant content.
  • Knowledge of special education needs and effective teaching methods for children with speech and language disorders.
  • Proficiency in the principles, techniques, equipment, and literature relevant to individual and group treatment of various speech and language disorders.
  • Capability to lead discussions centered on equity, addressing opportunity gaps, and ensuring equal access to rigorous, technology-enhanced lessons.
  • Ability to establish and maintain productive working relationships with District staff, administrators, students, parents or guardians, external agencies, and the public in a diverse environment.
  • Willingness to accept and implement feedback for continuous improvement.

Education and Experience:

  • Master's Degree from an accredited institution.

Certification:
Valid Pennsylvania Certification in Speech and Language Impaired PK - 12, Speech and Hearing Disorders.

Work Schedule:
This is a full-time position, requiring 40 hours per week.
