Job Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled HVAC Specialist to join our team at the Tohono O'odham Nation.

Salary: $60,000 - $80,000 per year

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in installing, servicing, and repairing heating, venting, air conditioning, or cooling systems. They should be knowledgeable about building safety codes and regulations, as well as possess excellent problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Installs, services, and repairs new and existing environmental control systems in residences, office buildings, and commercial establishments.
  • Inspects existing units for conformity to building safety codes and provides routine maintenance of units, replacing or repairing equipment and/or parts.
  • Mounts compressor and condenser units on platform or floor, using hand tools, and following blueprints or engineering specifications.
  • Performs installations and connects motors, compressors, temperature and humidity controls, and circulating-ventilation fans to control panels.
  • Ensures efficient operation of systems by observing pressure and vacuum gauges and adjusting controls.
  • Tests joints and connections for gas leaks and replaces defective breaker controls, thermostats, switches, fuses, and equipment.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or General Education Diploma and three years of practical work experience as a HVAC Technician; or an equivalent combination of training, education, and work experience.
  • Certification in EPA Type II within one year of hire and certification as a HVAC Journey Technician within six months of hire.
  • Ability to coordinate assignments/tasks with other departments, programs, or construction trade and read and comprehend blueprints, schematics, diagrams, and/or sketches.
