Job Summary

As a key member of the WM team, the District Fleet Manager plays a critical role in ensuring the safe and reliable operation of our fleet of primary and secondary equipment. This position requires a strong focus on achieving market-based profitability through effective management of fleet and maintenance activities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure safe and reliable vehicles are available to meet operational requirements.
  • Conduct fleet evaluations to ensure maintenance standards are met.
  • Manage maintenance managers to ensure performance and cost focus across the area.
  • Review capital equipment requisitions in line with Corporate guidelines and objectives.
  • Manage effective utilization of vehicle assets.
  • Ensure maintenance shops are adequately staffed and mechanics are properly trained.
  • Ensure vehicle management systems are effectively utilized.
  • Comply with and ensure adherence to WM's Mission to Zero standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient operations.
  • Meet all financial review dates and corporate directed programs in a timely fashion.
  • Assist in budget process as required.
  • Assist in creating a positive team-oriented environment through employee development and motivation.
  • Ensure the cleanliness and maintenance of the maintenance shops through regular inspections and preventive maintenance programs.
  • Oversee personnel needs of the department including selecting, coaching, and training staff and maintenance managers, and evaluating employee performance.
  • Motivate, coach, counsel, and discipline managers according to WM's policies and procedures and ensure that maintenance managers are in compliance with the standards in their administration of counseling and disciplinary steps.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree (accredited), or in lieu of Degree, a High School Diploma or GED (accredited) and 4 years of relevant experience required.
  • 5 years previous experience (in addition to education requirements) required.
Work Environment

This job primarily operates in a professional office environment and routinely requires the use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, copy machines, etc.

The expected salary range for this position is $90k – $100k per year. The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate's relevant experience, education, training, certifications, qualifications, and work location. In addition, this position is eligible for incentive pay.
