Aircraft Mechanic I/Deployment Pool Job Description

Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced Aircraft Mechanic I/Deployment Pool to join our team at Amentum. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing maintenance and repair tasks on RPA systems and support equipment, as well as supporting deployments to various CONUS/OCONUS locations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform daily launch/recovery duties in support of operational requirements.
  • Apply logic and good judgment to diagnose and repair airframe, engine, flight control, pneudraulic, fuel, electrical/electronic systems, and problems.
  • Support aircraft utilization and maintenance activity schedules.
  • Perform maintenance and repair tasks, ensuring successful completion.
  • Service, repair, and overhaul aircraft equipment, engines, and sub-systems to ensure serviceability.
  • Repair, replace, and rebuild aircraft structures, landing gear, power plants, fuel systems, and functional components using hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, rivet guns, drills, and other tools.
  • Inspect and repair power plant malfunctions, including cracked components, oil leaks, etc.
  • Diagnose malfunctions, isolate causes, and correct breaks.
  • Test engine operations, using testing equipment to locate source(s) of malfunction.
  • Replace and repair damaged components, using hand tools, gauges, and test equipment to complete repairs.
  • Remove engine and major components from aircraft equipment, using hoist or other lifting devices.
  • Disassemble and inspect parts for wear, warping, or other defects.
  • Repair and replace defective engine components and reassemble and install engines in aircraft.
  • Adjust, repair, or replace instruments, flight control, electrical/electronic, fuel/oil systems, and aircraft accessories.
  • Perform aircraft and vehicle services, including engine wash/cleaning, parts lubrication, and maintenance checks.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or completion of relevant military and/or vocational technical school curriculum.
  • Minimum of one year of actual Aircraft Mechanic maintenance experience required.
  • Basic knowledge of basic and complex mechanical maintenance and repair.
  • Basic knowledge of technical publications related to aircraft mechanical maintenance.
  • Theory and principles of operation of engines, accessories, and components, theory of flight, and electronic flight controls.
  • Ability to inspect and operate ground support and auxiliary equipment.
  • Ability to lift, carry, and/or wear Military Issued Equipment in excess of 50 pounds for extended periods.
  • Ability to speak, read, write, and understand English.
  • Valid U.S. Passport with a minimum of two years remaining with at least two facing pairs (four total) of blank Visa pages.
  • Current/active U.S. Drivers License.
  • Fully COVID-19 vaccinated with booster.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate Degree in a relevant career field.
  • Licensed by the FAA as an Airframe and Powerplant Mechanic.
  • RPA Deployment Experience.
  • Prior experience as a Defense Contractor.
  • Aircraft Mechanic experience within the last 10 years.
  • MQ-9 experience as an Aircraft Mechanic.
  • MQ-9 Aircraft Composite Repair/Replacement Experience.
