Job Overview

The Inpatient Registered Nurse plays a crucial role in executing physician directives and ensuring high-quality nursing care for all patients. This position emphasizes ongoing assessment of patient conditions while prioritizing safety, comfort, and adherence to privacy regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver direct patient care, assess outcomes, collaborate with specialists as necessary, and modify nursing care strategies to achieve optimal patient health.
  • Engage with physicians regarding any alterations in patient status, symptoms, and diagnostic results.
  • Respond promptly and accurately to shifts in patient condition or treatment responses.
  • Stay informed about current policies and procedures relevant to nursing responsibilities.
  • Exhibit comprehensive and professional nursing knowledge and skills in alignment with established standards, including the Patient Bill of Rights and the Nurse Practice Act.
  • Conduct thorough head-to-toe assessments on all patients, including regular reassessments as per policy.
  • Effectively evaluate and manage pain, employing appropriate techniques and educating patients and families on pain management.
  • Monitor patients' hemodynamic status and accurately interpret findings.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in cardiac monitoring to detect dysrhythmias.
  • Perform waived testing in accordance with clinical laboratory and unit policies.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of medications and their administration based on patient age and clinical condition.
  • Ensure accurate and continuous nursing documentation, including patient histories, conditions, treatments, and responses.
  • Conduct all patient care activities in a manner that enhances safety and minimizes the risk of medical errors.
  • Interact professionally with patients and families, involving them in care planning.
  • Develop and implement teaching plans based on identified learning needs, including family involvement as appropriate.
  • Foster a safe, comfortable, and therapeutic environment for patients and families in line with hospital standards.
  • Consistently demonstrate teamwork values.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Graduate from an accredited nursing program; BSN preferred.
  • At least two (2) years of experience in a hospital environment.
  • Telemetry/ICU experience is advantageous.
  • Possession of a current nursing license.
  • Current certifications in CPR and ACLS are required; PALS certification is preferred.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to care for a diverse patient population, from adults to geriatrics.
  • Excellent teaching capabilities.
  • Basic understanding of continuous quality improvement principles.

Technical Skills:

  • Basic computer proficiency.
  • Experience with EHR documentation, specifically EPOWERdoc.

Licenses and Certifications:

  • Valid RN license.
  • Current BLS Certification.
  • Current ACLS Certification.
  • Current PALS Certification.

Work Schedule:

  • 12-hour shifts.
  • Flexibility for all shifts.
  • Weekend availability required.
  • Holidays may be included.
